SUMMARY:UIDP London Forum 2023
DESCRIPTION:UIDP London 2023 will convene research and partnership professionals from academia\, industry\, and government to examine the future potential impact of national laboratories in the research landscape.\n\n\n\n National laboratories or public sector research establishments play an important role in the global science\, research\, development\, and innovation landscape. They conduct scientific research\, develop technology and test prototypes\, and serve as technical experts; for government agencies\, they also serve as science policy advisors. But the perception of these entities and the value they bring to the innovation ecosphere is not always clear. UIDP recently commissioned a study examining key emerging trends and challenges related to national labs across six countries and their efforts to strengthen links with partners in academia and industry.

SUMMARY:UIDP Europe 2023
DESCRIPTION:Global partnerships are critical to addressing society’s most complex challenges and advancing the human condition. Understanding the territory—cultural and regulatory—is critical to navigate the varying structures guiding collaboration across university\, industry\, and other sectors. \nJoin strategic thinkers and leading practitioners June 12-13\, 2023\, as we convene UIDP Europe 2023 to explore contemporary approaches for building strong partnerships to advance society’s interests. We will dive into a broad array of topics: creating and maintaining high-impact multisector collaborations\, addressing research compliance challenges\, and evaluating the role of multiple stakeholders in building and assessing robust innovation ecosystems. \nOur host is Karolinska Institutet (KI)\, Sweden’s leading institution in academic medical research. KI works collaboratively with industry partners\, the health care sector\, universities\, and patient and other organizations in the region\, both nationally and internationally. As a single-faculty medical university\, KI sees the value in collaborating with life science adjoining disciplines such as data\, technology\, and engineering. We will also explore Sweden’s “professor’s privilege” model for intellectual property\nownership and its impact on university-industry research collaborations\, technology transfer\, and launching start-ups from academia. \nUIDP Europe 2023 will include speakers from academia\, industry\, health care\, and other organizations from around the globe to explore challenges and best practices for multi-sector collaborations across regional\, economic\, and political boundaries.

SUMMARY:UIDP Member Town Hall | Shifting Corporate Engagement Models: Pros\, Cons\, and Lessons Learned
DESCRIPTION:We know there are changing dynamics in the corporate engagement space around the different structures for corporate engagement offices on university campuses. Many universities have evaluated and revamped their models—between distributed models\, centralized “one front door” approaches\, or a hybrid of the two—over the past five years.    \nRecognizing that shifts are occurring on many campuses and there is rich experience within our community with the different models\, UIDP will hold an online town hall to discuss contemporary opportunities and challenges of the varying corporate engagement structures.   \nThis UIDP member-only event will leverage the sophisticated experience and outstanding leadership and research capabilities of UIDP member universities from around the globe to share ideas\, experiences\, and perspectives.  \n
