Confidentiality & Publications (2019)

UIDP Contracting Webinar SeriesNegotiation of research agreements is an integral aspect of University-Industry partnerships. Successful research agreements ensure that the interests and needs of both parties are accommodated.

Freedom to publish and need to protect confidential information are two issues that define the basic differences between the missions of universities and corporate sponsors. The interplay of these terms requires careful thought and clear drafting. Issues of scope, timing, policies, law, and control need to be considered along with the purpose of the project, the intentions of the parties, the location of the research, and the kind of personnel involved. This session will review the basic positions and common accommodation of both parties, along with the related issues, practical considerations, and best practices. About the Series

UIDP Academy presents a ten-part webinar series on contemporary issues and opportunities for effective negotiation of industry-sponsored research agreements (ISRAs). This series is strategically designed to offer seasoned contracting professionals, as well as novices and others who just want to learn more about the general contracting issues affecting ISRA negotiations, an opportunity to discuss a broad range of contracting matters. More information about ISRAs can be found in UIDP’s Contract Accords.
