UIDP Webinar: EU and UK-Focused 2025 Sony Research Award Program | August 13

UIDP hosted an informative webinar on Wednesday, August 13, from 8 to 9 a.m. ET, 12 to 1 p.m. GMT, about the EU and UK-focused 2025 Sony Research Award Program.

Following a well-attended session for our U.S.-based audience, UIDP offered an international-focused webinar on the Sony Research Award Program, designed specifically for researchers at universities in eligible UK and European countries. This initiative supports innovative academic research with the potential to shape the future of technology and foster long-term collaboration with Sony’s global R&D teams.

Participants heard directly from Damjan Stamcar, principal technology analyst at Sony Technology Partnerships Europe, who provided insights into the program’s goals, submission guidelines, and application deadlines.

Now in its 10th year, the Sony Research Award Program offers funding of up to USD $150,000 per year for research projects that align with Sony’s strategic interests. The program features two distinct award tracks:
Faculty Innovation Award – Supports early-stage, high-risk research in broad topic areas.
Focused Research Award – Targets proposals closely aligned with specific themes of interest to Sony’s research teams.

This webinar walked attendees through the current call for proposals, provided tips for crafting a compelling submission, and highlighted how the program encourages meaningful academic-industry collaboration.
