This Privacy Statement governs the manner in which the University Industry Demonstration Partnership (“UIDP”) collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the https://uidp.org website (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by UIDP, including but not limited to publications, white papers, videos, webinars and associated recordings which are copyright protected in accordance with the UIDP Copyright and Disclaimer below.
What data we collect
Personal data is data or information that is identified or identifiable with a natural person (“Personal Data”). It may include your name, your email address, your physical address, IP address, cookies, your telephone number, usernames, and other information that is identifiable to you.
We may collect Personal Data from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, attend UIDP meetings, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may visit our Site anonymously. We will collect Personal Data from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.
Non-personal data
We may collect non-personal data about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal data may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information.
Legal Basis
Use of your Personal Data is based on one or more of the following legal bases:
(i) Consent. We collect and use your Personal Data based on your consent when you first visit our website and accept or reject Cookies and when you voluntarily submit your Personal Data to us when you sign up for our newsletter or contact us.
ii) Legitimate Interests. We may also collect and use your Personal Data when doing so is necessary for our legitimate interests relating to our organization.
(iii) Compliance with a Legal Obligation. We may process data to comply with our legal obligations. For example, we may have a legal obligation to preserve or disclose your Personal Data if there is a valid request from a regulator, law enforcement, or court order.
(iv) For the Exercise or Defense of Legal Claims. If you bring a claim against us, or we bring a claim against you, we may use the Personal Data we have for our defense, or in pursuit of our claim.
Web browser cookies
Our Site uses “cookies” to enhance User experience. User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. User may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert them when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.
How we use collected information
UIDP may collect and use Users personal information for the following purposes:

We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site.

We may use feedback you provide to improve our products and services.

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices, and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site.

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users Personal Data to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any Personal Data regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Site. In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to our Site, is subject to that website’s own terms and policies.
How long we retain your data
We retain your data as long as retention is necessary to comply with our contractual obligations, the type of Personal Data, the purposes of its collection and processing, and applicable law. We will delete your personal information when it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or upon your request, subject to the exceptions discussed in this Privacy Policy, or under applicable law, contract, or regulation.
Data transfers
Our webservers and hosting services are located in the United States. Personal Data you provide while located in the European Union (“EU”), the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom (“UK”), or in another international jurisdiction, may be transferred to the United States. If we transfer information from the EU, EEA, UK, or another country with cross-border transfer obligations to the United States, our service providers use Binding Corporate Rules, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other approved transfer mechanisms.
Your Data Rights
UIDP is committed to the data protection principals of lawfulness, fairness, and transparency. If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have the following rights:
- Request access. You have the right to obtain confirmation about whether we are processing your Personal Data and, if we are, access to a copy of that information.
- Request rectification. If you believe that the Personal Data in our records is inaccurate or incomplete, you may request that we correct any inaccurate or complete any incomplete Personal Data we hold.
- Request erasure. In certain circumstances where we no longer have a reason to continue processing your Personal Data, you may ask us to delete or remove your Personal Data from our records. This right is sometimes referred to as “the right to be forgotten.” Please note that when we are required to notify our Data Processors of your request, it may take some time for your data to be fully removed.
- Withdraw consent. When we are using your Personal Data based on consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.
- Restrict processing. In certain circumstances, you may request that we restrict the processing of your data.
- Object to processing. You have the right to object to processing of your data when it is processed based on our legitimate interests or your consent.
- Data portability. In certain circumstances, you may request that we transfer your Personal Data to you or to another Data Controller.
Exercising Your Data Rights
This section explains how you may exercise your Data Rights if you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom or other relevant jurisdiction. The Data Rights and processes described in this section do not apply generally, and nothing in this section is intended to extend the Data Rights to you if not required by law, or an admission that UIDP is required to comply with any specific data protection law or regulation.

We have at least 30 days to respond to your request or objection from the date we receive it and will alert you if we exercise our right to take additional time to process your request. Please note that we may retain a copy of your communications, including your name and contact information, to help us resolve any issues you raise.
Appeal
If you, your data, and UIDP are covered by a specific data protection law or regulation, and we refuse to take action on your request to exercise your Data Rights, we will provide you with a notification and the reason for our refusal. You may also be entitled to appeal our decision. If you choose to appeal our decision, please email us at info@uidp.org with “APPEAL” and your first and last name written in the subject line.
Complaints
If you have any complaints about the way we handle your personal data, please contact us so we may resolve the issue.
If you, your data, and UIDP are covered by a specific data protection law or regulation, and you are unsatisfied with our response, or you do not believe that we can assist you with your complaint or concern, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint a government authority:

UIDP has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
Your acceptance of these terms
