Webinar Recording: NSF PFI Solicitation 2023
The U.S. National Science Foundation’s Partnerships for Innovation (PFI) program assists researchers and innovators from academia, nonprofit, and public organizations accelerate the development of breakthrough technologies and advances solutions. PFI-funded researchers apply an iterative process of translational research and customer discovery to develop prototypes that address a product-market fit and inform future products or services. NSF recently published an updated solicitation with significantly increased funding awards and now offers $550,000 per Technology Translation (PFI-TT) track and up to $1 million per proposal for its Research Partnership (PFI-RP) track. This webinar further discussed the new solicitation announcement and award process.
The PFI program offers researchers a technology testbed to gain market insights, launch a commercial application, or facilitate industry adoption. The program helps researchers translate basic research into technologies and spurs university spinoff companies. Researchers in the PFI program develop groundbreaking technologies, license NSF-funded intellectual property, engage in industry partnerships, and gain innovation and entrepreneurial skills.
