Innovation in the Bioeconomy Workshops | Identifying Priorities to Accelerate Transformative Biotechnology Solutions
Workshops to catalyze translation and partnerships
Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, award #2137471
This UIDP-led workshop series was conducted on behalf of the National Science Foundation to leverage the country’s top scientific minds to identify biotechnology areas where strategic investments will accelerate the transformation of research into products, services and new techniques that serve as the cornerstone for Industries of Tomorrow.
Each workshop convened stakeholders from multiple sectors and disciplines to identify the primary levers by which increased research activity could yield results that translate into real-world solutions. Workshop participants represented academia, industry, and government, working together to identify research areas ripe for partnership and collaboration. For each topic, an NSF working group and a Technical Task Force of experts shaped the content and discussion areas of exploration. Please see the links below for details about each workshop.
- Feeding the Planet Sustainably;
- World without Waste: A Circular Bioeconomy;
- Building a Biotechnology Innovation Ecosystem to Mitigate Climate Change
- Economic and Societal Challenges and Opportunities of Biotechnology; and
- Innovation Ecosystems for Adaptive, Sustainable Health (May 10-11, 2022)
UIDP would like to thank the National Science Foundation (NSF) and specifically the Division of Molecular and Cellular Biosciences (MCB) for its financial investment in this workshop series. Theresa Good served as our point of contact with the National Science Foundation and offered us tremendous guidance over the course of planning and implementing the event.
