UIDP Academy: Co-location Workshop

April 11, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - April 12, 2016 @ 12:00 pm EDT

This UIDP Academy event is designed to provide industry and academic leaders valuable insights on the benefits and challenges of co-location.

In today’s highly competitive research environment, companies and universities are seeking novel and disruptive approaches to collaboration that, if successfully employed, will bolster their research and commercialization goals. Co-locating academic and industrial researchers in the same or adjacent physical space is one way organizations are facilitating the flow of ideas, innovation and collaboration in their university-industry (U-I) partnerships.

Workshop overview

UIDP Academy events bring together practitioners to discuss effective strategies and common sticking points within a mutually beneficial and respectful forum. The Co-location Workshop will cover the range of different mechanisms organizations use to co-locate; potential benefits and challenges for industry and academic partners in pursuing co-location opportunities; and case studies illustrating different institutional/industrial approaches. Topics we’ll cover include:

  • Personnel & Training
  • Managing Intellectual Property
  • Managing Multi-stakeholder Contracts
  • Operations and Facilities Management
