April 16, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

This workshop will be held at UIDP26 in San Jose. In this workshop, we will hear from industry and university representatives who are involved in issues regarding the exchange and use of data and how to address these in university/industry agreements.

Workshop Overview

This session will take a broad view of issues related to the generation, ownership, exchange, and use, including permitted and restricted uses, of data in university/industry projects. Issues such as opt-out and broad consents, use of publicly accessible data, and non-human proprietary data exchange, export control restrictions, privacy, security, intellectual property, and other practical considerations will be discussed. Particular attention will be paid to addressing data in industry sponsored and university/industry collaborative projects.

  • Eric Giegerich, Director, Industry Alliances Office, University of California at Berkeley
