This UIDP Academy series presents information and ideas from leading subject matter experts on tried, true, and new approaches to U-I contracting, with opportunities for Q&A and presenter interaction. Presenters will use the UIDP Contract Accords as practical guidance to help participants understand issues and collaborate more effectively.
This session will explore the importance of making clear differentiation in industry sponsored research agreements between clauses governing copyrightable works (works of authorship) from those governing patentable works (inventive works) and those governing other research results. This distinction should assist the parties in benefitting from copyrightable works created under the SRA and clarify their expectation regarding ownership and use of copyrightable works. The discussion of copyright will exclude issues related to software.
