UIDP Webinar: 2025 Sony Research Award Program

UIDP hosted an informative webinar about the Sony Research Award Program on Tuesday, July 15, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET.

Participants learned about the Sony Research Award Program, an initiative that provides funding for innovative university research with the potential to shape the future of technology. Open to universities in the United States, Canada, India, and select European countries, the program offers awards of up to $150,000 per year for groundbreaking projects across a few broad technology categories.

The program features two distinct award tracks:

  • The Faculty Innovation Award supports early-stage, exploratory research within the topic categories; and
  • The Focused Research Award is designed for projects that align with more specific research themes of interest to Sony.

Participants gained valuable insights into this year’s award cycle, including application details and guidance for crafting a compelling proposal. Details were provided on the collaborative opportunities available through this program and how faculty can build lasting partnerships with Sony’s world-class research teams.
