ATOMIC: An NSF Industry-University Cooperative Research Center Webinar (2019)
The Center for Atomically Thin Multifunctional Coatings (ATOMIC), a National Science Foundation (NSF) and industry-funded research center, is devoted to the design and development of advanced coatings based on 2D layered materials, and synergistically integrates world-leading faculty, researchers, students, and staff from Penn State and Rice University with industry and national labs. ATOMIC provides a platform for public agencies and companies to cost-effectively collaborate on shared, precompetitive research topics by leveraging R&D investment to access world-class facilities, faculty, and graduate students. The Center’s membership is diverse. Members’ priorities drive the research agenda – and train the next generation of 2D materials innovators.
This webinar provided a concise overview of ATOMIC’s mission, operation, funding, intellectual property, project selection, and management. The Center is actively recruiting companies who may wish to join them as members or visitors for their next Industry Advisory Board Meeting on May 6-7, 2019 at Penn State in University Park, PA.
