UIDP Webinar Recording: Goals and Plans for Center for Data-Driven Drug Development and Treatment Assessment (DATA)

Data science and artificial intelligence (AI) have been successfully used in many fields, including drug design and testament assessment. This webinar offered an overview of an initiative at the University of Michigan that focuses on using data science for drug discovery and the planned Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC), the Center for Data-Driven Drug Development and Treatment Assessment (DATA). Supported by Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS), the center will create research and collaboration opportunities for design of innovative solutions for all stages of drug design and assessment. The proposed center, currently under review by the National Science Foundation, has several industry partners, including multiple pharmaceutical, information technology, and AI companies, as well as health care systems. The webinar explored the goals envisioned for the center and some of the computational approaches and methods to be used for the projects conducted within the center’s framework.
