Foreground Intellectual Property (2019)

UIDP Contracting Webinar SeriesNegotiation of research agreements is an integral aspect of University-Industry partnerships. Successful research agreements ensure that the interests and needs of both parties are accommodated.

Intellectual property terms are a key component of university-industry partnerships. Foreground Intellectual Property (FIP) meaning potentially patentable inventions may be conceived and reduced to practice during performance of an industry sponsored research agreement. Negotiation of the FIP clauses helps to assure that the parties understand each other’s expectations regarding the probability of FIP, access to, use and control of it to enable commercialization or further development as appropriate. Purchase access to this webinar, and see the entire webinar series.

This session will address various aspects of defining and allocating right in foreground intellectual property along with practical considerations and related in a sponsored research agreement.
