Data Use Agreements

Data use agreements have become critical in facilitating university-industry collaborations as data analytics, data science, and the use and manipulation of data sets is vital to university research. Join us for a discussion of the issues associated with negotiating data use terms in research related agreements, particularly, data use agreements. This advanced session will explore the issues, challenges, and possible approaches to these terms, including applicable laws and regulations.

UIDP Contract Accords: Each Accord identifies a common area that requires clarity and forethought in U-I sponsored research contracts. The Accords provide practical guidance and insight into how parties can address topics in mutually beneficial ways.

Contract Accord 14: Data: For purposes of this Contract Accord, Data means a set of recorded information that is provided by one party to another party for use under defined conditions.

Contract Accord 16: Software: This Contract Accord is intended to serve as a software-specific reference guide that can be used to promote successful negotiations between University and Company collaborators within the context of the SRAs involving software.
